I have chosen Charlotte Perkins Gilman's,
The Yellow Wallpaper because I am interested in developing images that convey stages of human sanity versus insanity. The short story is written as a diary entry of a woman who is sent to a royal hall for the summer to recover from depression. Her husband (thinks of doing what is best for her) has ideas and theories which inevitably drives her further to the edge. Particularly when she is forced to sleep and spend most of her time in a large empty room. Her new bedroom consists of a bed and many windows, her husband claims that all she needs is fresh air and a lot of light. At the opposite end lies a dirty tattered and not to mention ugly yellow wallpaper. At first she hates it, but soon grows to love it. Gradually she starts to see another woman lurk behind the paper. Moving underneathe the prints, she soon becomes the protagonists companion. Finally they become one.
My process begins with thumbnailing. I want to be able to use imagery to tell the story. I will be presenting a graphic novel illustrating the basis of The Yellow Wallpaper. My vision is black ink drawings colored-in in photoshop. The drawings start by being very literal and true to the story itself, but as I try to convey her insanity the drawings become more abstract.

Your work is really good. I was wondering if there is any way for me to get a copy of the full story.
